Hicks Mentioned in North Carolina Wills

R. Hicks was a Clerk in the Court of Chowan County in 1718- 1721.

He was also a witness for the will of John Goreham, dated 30 Sep 1717, probated Oct. 1717: Wife & Executrix: Elinor ("plantation on Queen Anne Creek I now dwell on"). Nephew: John Goreham (land on Darby Creek "called in Indian Renocooset", and also lands on Kesiah River). Witnesses: R. Hicks, Joseph Young, John Cass.

Africa Hicks of Pasquotank Precinct made a will on 7 Nov 1711, with no probate date. Two sons: Patrick Mackgregory and Gregory Mackgregory. Husband: Robt. Hicks. Sister: Ann Palin (widow). Executors: Patrick Mackgregory and Gregory Mackgregory, to be in care of Mr. John Palin and Nath. Chevin until they are 21 years of age. Witnesses: George Ellis, Eliza Harlow.
